Multifocal Intraocular Lenses

Dr. Multifocal intraocular lenses (MIOL) are developed to provide both distance and near vision after cataract surgery without the aid of spectacles. Nowadays, MIOL with different optical principles and designs are available and there are some advantages and disadvantages of these lenses. Especially reduced contrast sensitivity and photic phenomena are among these disadvantages. Patient selection is crucial while planning to implant multifocal intraocular lenses and to achieve good results proper multifocal intraocular lens should be implanted to an appropriate patient by an experienced surgeon.
