Patient Selection, Surgical Tips, and Clinical Results in ReLex SMILE
Volkan Hürmeriç
Associate Prof. Dunyagoz Hospital, Ophthalmology Department, Ankara Turkey DOI : 10.37844/glauc.cat.2021.16.12 Over the past decade, the most critical advancement in corneal refractive surgery has been the development of ReLex SMILE (RS). RS has been a reliable alternative in treating myopic and astigmatic patients without using an excimer laser. By using a single laser system, RS has managed to decrease surgery time, postoperative discomfort, and dryness in laser vision correction. Our evolving understanding of the procedure improved refractive results. Today RS is accepted to have similar effi cacy, predictability, and safety as femtosecond laser-assisted LASIK. In this review, I would like to discuss the most critical factors, surgical tips and tricks that affect success in RS surgery. Keywords : Refractive surgery, Cornea, ReLex SMILE
