Materials and Methods: Thirty-five eyes of 45 patients with aof mean age of 70±10.17 years (22 female, 13 male) were included in the study. All patients underwent uneventful phacoemulsification and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation in the bag with temporal clear corneal incision. Following a detailed ophthalmological examination, anterior segment optical coherence tomography was performed on preoperatively and afteron 1st day, 1 st week, and 1 st month postoperatively. Preoperative endothelium-lens distance, and nasal and temporal anterior chamber angles, and postoperative endothelium-IOL distance, and nasal and temporal anterior chamber angles were measured. Statistical analysisThe data were done analyzed bywith paired t-test, Wilcoxon rank test, and ANOVA test.
Results: Mean preoperative endothelium-lens distance was 2.54±0.46 millimeter (mm preoperatively) and, mean endothelium-IOL distance was 3.99±0.35 mm on after 1st 1 day, 3.97±0.28 mm on after 1st 1 week, and 3.91±0.25 mm on after 1st 1 month postoperatively. The mean preoperative nasal angle was 25.15±6.79 degrees (º) and, mean postoperative nasal angle was 39.39±5.38º on after 1st 1 day, 40.60±5.95º after 1 week after operation, and 41.23±4.62º after one 1 month after operation. Mean preoperative temporal angle was 24.17±7.39º and, mean postoperative temporal angle was 38.21±4.78º on after 1st 1 day, 40.57±6.32º after 1 week after operation, and 41.48±5.21º after one 1 month after operation. At each controlexamination, the endothelium-IOL distance, and nasal and temporal angle values were significantly found increased when compared tohigher than preoperative values and these were statistically significant (p<0.001).
Conclusion: The changes in the anterior chamber depth and iridocorneal angle parameters can be evaluated quantitatively by Visante OCT after phacoemulsification and IOL implantation surgery. Keywords : Anterior segment optical coherence tomography, cataract, phacoemulsification, iridocorneal angle
