5Istanbul Medeniyet University, Department of Ophthalmology, Istanbul/TURKEY Ligneous conjonctivitis is a rare disorder which is characterized by the formation of membranes on the palpebral conjunctiva. We aimed to report three patients with ligneous conjonctivitis; a 5 year-old girl, and two sisters who are 19 and 23 years-old. All the three patients were presented with complaints of discharge, redness and membranes on the lids. Both of the sisters had vascularized leukoma in their right eyes. Furthermore, the sisters had also hepatosplenomegaly and gingivitis. Clinical and symptomatic recovery, and a decrease in the formation of newly formed membranes were obtained with topical 1% cyclosporin, topical and systemic fresh frozen plasma (FFP) therapies in all the three cases; however, no regression was observed in pre-existing membranes. Topical 1% cyclosporin A, topical and systemic FFP therapies may be helpful to reduce the symptoms and to prevent the recurrences in cases with ligneous conjunctivitis.
