Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the thickness of the retina nerve fiber layer (RNFL) and the ganglion cell complex (GCC) in patients who have chronic migraines, using spectral optical coherence tomography (OCT).

Materials and Methods: Twenty patients who had chronic migraines (Group 1), 20 patients who were totally healthy (Control group) were included in the study. Spectral OCT was used to measure the RNFL and GCC values for all patients. The groups were statistically evaluated among themselves.

Results: The mean age in group 1, and the control group was 34.4±8.3 (25-42) and 33.6±6.7 (25-40) years respectively. Average time of migraine diagnosis in group 1 patients were 88±10.2 month (66-114). There was statistically significant difference between group 1 and control group in RNFL and GCC measurements. (p<0.05)

Conclusions: In chronic migraine patients, statistically significant thining of RNFL and GCC measurements was determined comparing with the control group. Keywords : Migraine; OCT; RNFL; GCC
