M.D. Associate Professor, Gazi University Faculty of Medicine Hospital Department of Ophthalmology, Ankara/TURKEY
Trabeculectomy has been a gold standard for years for the treatment of glaucoma which is a progressive disease and is still being performed by
most of the glaucoma specialists. In recent years, various surgical techniques have been described as a minimally invasive glaucoma surgery
(MIGS). Most of these techniques are performed with various implants whereas some other ones without any implants. In this paper, current
and popular MIGS techniques without any implant such as canaloplasty, trabectome, ab externo suture trabeculotomy, gonioscopy assisted
suture trabeculotomy (GATT-ab-interno suture trabeculotomy) will be discussed in the light of the current literature and our clinical experience.
