Myopia and Glaucoma

Myopia, which has a rapid i]crease in its prevalence recently, is considered to be one of the most common causes of low vision and legal blindness due to its associated complications. Glaucoma is one of these diseases linked with myopia. Although the relationship between myopia and glaucoma is still unclear, it is suggested that patients with high myopia and glaucoma displays similar scleral collagen features and hypersensitive response to glucocorticoids. In this review, the association between these two entities is investigated thoroughly from the perspectives of epidemiology, pathogenetic mechanisms, clinical manifestations and differential diagnosis.
